There are a number of ways to travel to Bintan, including via Singapore, Indonesia, and private yacht.

VIA SINGAPORE

Getting to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

Bintan Resorts Ferries (BRF) operates regular ferry services between Singapore Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) and Bintan Resorts Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal. Only 60 minutes by high-speed catamaran ferry. International visitors arriving via Singapore Changi Airport can take regular shuttle buses or public transport to TMFT.

Shuttle Bus Services

There is a round-trip service from Singapore Changi Airport and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) Terminals 1 and 4.

Passengers arriving at Terminal 2 can take the connecting bridge or light rail to Terminal 1 or take the T2-T4 shuttle bus to Terminal 4 and use shuttle services to TMFT. Passengers arriving at Terminal 3 can use shuttle services to Terminal 1 via the connecting bridge or light rail.

Due to the rapidly evolving global COVID-19 situation, Changi-TMFT shuttle services will be suspended from 1 April 2020 until further notice.

Public Transportation

For international passengers travelling through Singapore Changi Airport, taxi services are available from any terminal at Changi Airport. It takes about 15 minutes by taxi, depending on traffic. In addition to taxis, individuals can use the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train and then transfer to a bus to the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

  • Get off at Tanah Merah MRT Station.
  • Leave the train station at exit B and go to bus stop 85091.
  • Board SBS Transit Bus Service 35 and get off at the last stop at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

* For international passengers travelling through Singapore Changi Airport, Changi Airport MRT Station is located in the basement of Terminals 2 and 3, and passengers arriving at Terminal 1 must take the light rail to Terminals 2 or 3.

*For travellers departing from Bintan and from Singapore Changi Airport, please allow 1.5-2 hours (depending on the mode of transport).

Singapore – Bintan – Singapore Route

Bintan Resorts Ferries (BRF) is a scheduled ferry service between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) in Singapore and Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal on Bintan Island. A high-speed catamaran ferry will take you to your Bintan resort in just 60 minutes.

Ferry tickets can be booked online via the Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) website at www.brf.com.sg. Visitors can also purchase tickets at the ferry terminal. Cash and card payments are accepted at the BRF box office. Choose to fly Emerald class on Bintan Resort Ferries for first-class service.

Emerald class privileges include dedicated and joint check-in for boarding and baggage, seat assignment, access to the Emerald Lounge and priority baggage handling.

Thing to Note

  • Indonesia is 1 hour behind Singapore
  • Please check in at least 1.5 hours before the ferry departure time.
  • It is possible to purchase AIG Rejseforsikring (Bintan) through the BRF website.

VIA INDONESIA

Domestic flight

There are also domestic flights to Bintan in Indonesia. Tourists can choose to take a domestic flight from Jakarta, Pekanbaru, Matak, Batam, Dabo Singkep or Natuna to Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Kijang, Bintan. Shuttle service from Raja Haji Fisabilillah to Bintan Resorts takes approximately 1 hour.

Batam – Tanjung Pinang Route (Return)

Daily ferry service operated by MV SENTOSA or MV BARUNA runs from Punggu Ferry Terminal, Batam to Sri Bintampura Ferry Terminal, Tanjung Pinang.

The ferry ride takes about 60 minutes and costs IDR 110,000 for a round trip. Ferries depart every 15 minutes from 07:20 WIB to 18:20 WIB daily.

Batam – Tanjunguban Route via Speed Boat (Return)

Tanjung Uban Domestic Speedboat Ferry Terminal Tanjung Uban provides speedboat services daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM every 1 hour depending on passenger demand.

The speedboat ride takes about 10-15 minutes and costs IDR 56,000 one way. Book directly at Tanjung Uban Domestic Speedboat Ferry Terminal.

Batam – Tanjunguban Route via RORO (Return)

Tanjung Uban Domestic Ro-Ro Ferry Terminal Tanjung Uban offers ro-ro (ferry) daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM at an interval of 1 hour and 15 minutes depending on passenger demand.

The trip takes about 60 minutes and costs IDR 20,000 for one-way transportation. Book directly at Tanjung Uban Domestic Ro-Ro Ferry Terminal.

VIA PRIVATE YATCH

Bintan Resorts Marina Pontoon, suitable for private yachts up to 25 meters in length and 3 meters in draft, is located at Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal. The facility has a total of 14 berths in this coordinate, offering both short-term and long-term places. The pier also has electricity and water connections.

Since 2012, according to the presidential decree no. 79/2011, all domestic and international yachts can sail directly to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT), Bintan Island Resort, and can go through customs and immigration procedures at BBT. Green Book and Sailing Permit (CAIT) established by Presidential Decree no. 105/2015, is no longer required, allowing yachts to enter Indonesia directly.
